Congratulations to Zoe Gilbertson, a junior track athlete at Mountain Range High School, for receiving 894 votes out of a total 1,993 and being named the ASPIRE Athlete of the Week for Week 27!

The Mustang is currently ranked No. 3 in the nation for the 100-meter hurdles. She’s ranked No. 1 in Colorado in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.88 and No. 1 in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 43.91. Last year as a sophomore, she won state in the 300 hurdles and finished runner-up in the 100 hurdles.

“Zoe’s drive to succeed is second to none!” state Mountain Range track coach Chris Smith. “She spends countless hours working to be the best she can be off of the track. When she steps on the track, her goal is to win-period. Immediately after the race is over, she is the first one to congratulate her competitors, shaking hands and saying, ‘Nice race.’”

Gilbertson balances her tremendous athletic abilities with a dedication to her academics; she currently holds a 3.5 GPA at Mountain Range while taking courses like CP Anatomy, CP Physiology and Mandarin. She has volunteered at different IronMan events in Boulder and also helped coordinate the Mountain Range HS Freshman Orientation for 2015.

“Zoe was the first girls’ state champion in MRHS school history for track and field and the 2nd in our nine-year history overall,” Coach Smith added. “We are seeing more girls come out for track who ‘want to be like Zoe.’”

Congratulations again to Zoe for being named the ASPIRE Athlete of the Week for Week 27! ASPIRE Sports Drinks are now available at all Target, Safeway and Whole Foods locations.
