Phillip Lindsay has been the one spark on Denver’s offense this season. On Monday night, the rookie running back reached 1,000 yards for the season.

Lindsay, 24, has shown patience beyond his years, consistently waiting for the offensive line to develop a hole. Then when an opposing defense gives him any kind of space, the first-year pro makes them pay with his excellent vision and elusiveness between the tackles.

Coming into Monday night’s matchup with the Oakland Raiders, Lindsay was second in the NFL with an average of 5.4 yards per carry. Only Aaron Jones of the Green Bay Packers is currently averaging more at 5.5 yards per carry.

With one game remaining in the season, Lindsay needs one rushing touchdown to become the first Broncos running back with 10 or more touchdowns since Knowshon Moreno in 2013.

With Lindsay eclipsing the 1,000-yard mark and Bradley Chubb’s double-digit sack total, the Broncos are the first team in NFL history to have a rookie record 1,000 rushing yards on offense and another rookie record 10 sacks on defense.
