At the end of the day, the only thing that matters in football is wins and losses, and the Broncos earned a win on Sunday, pushing them to 7-3 on the season.

It certainly wasn’t easy, though. In fact, it was fairly improbable.

Despite forcing four turnovers on the day, the New Orleans Saints were in position to kick an extra point that would have put them up one with just over a minute to play. Denver would have had an opportunity to push down the field for a game-winning field goal, but with the way the offense had played all day, it would have been a tough task.

Instead, rookie safety Justin Simmons leapt clear over the line to block the extra point attempt. The ball was then picked up by his fellow rookie safety, Will Parks, who returned it to the house for two points, giving Denver the two-point lead.

Following an onside kick recovery, the Broncos entered victory formation, and that was that.

This team finally gets to head into their long-awaited bye week, where they’ll hopefully have the opportunity to solve some some their offensive problems.

Until then, it’s time for a sigh of relief and a little bit of celebration.
