It looks like the Colorado Rockies dodged a bullet. Rockies All-Star slugger Carlos Gonzalez is not expected to miss an extended period of time, and is day-to-day, according to manager Walt Weiss.

“Pretty positive,” Weiss said when giving an update on CarGo prior to Thursday night’s matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers. “I figured he would be out of the lineup today, but day-to-day like we all are.”

Gonzalez injured his right ankle after taking a big hack at a pitch in the seventh inning of last night’s 12-2 blow out victory.

“About what we expected.” said Weiss. “I think its good. It’s very positive.”

For the time being, Ryan Raburn will see a chunk of the time in place of CarGo.

The Rockies are just 2.5 games out of a Wild Card spot, and the team will need Gonzalez’s bat in the lineup as quickly as possible to help continue their push for the postseason.
