The Colorado Rockies are set to begin a crucial seven-game homestand.

Colorado will welcome a pair of National League East teams in the Philadelphia Phillies and Washington Nationals to 20th and Blake.

The Rockies return home after a 3-3 road trip that was riddled with peaks and valleys. Colorado dropped the first three games before rallying to win the final three, establishing some momentum as they return to Coors Field.

Sitting at 6-12 this season, the Rockies have yet to win a game at home and it will be difficult to accomplish with two solid teams coming to town.

Up first are the new-look Phillies. Led by superstar Bryce Harper, Philadelphia is considered one of the best teams in the National League and are off to a solid 11-6 start.

Beyond Harper, the Phillies have a surplus of talent in J.T. Realmuto, Rhys Hoskins, Andrew McCutchen, Jake Arrieta and Aaron Nola, forming one of the most complete rosters in the sport.

The Rockies are currently at the high point of their season. Fresh off three convincing wins backed by solid all-around play, the club has built serious momentum for the first time this season and it will be critical that it carries over to their home turf.

Nolan Arenado has been on a home run tirade, blasting three in his last three games while leading the charge for the Rockies offense. Arenado’s improved performance alone has been a key difference maker for the Rockies recently. Colorado is 114-59 all-time in games that Arenado hits a home run.

The Rockies have platted 17 runs during their three-game winning streak, the most runs they have scored in any three-game stretch so far this season. Colorado has also improved at putting together quality at-bats, producing 25 hits over the last three games.

Additionally, there is a chance the Rockies could get some reinforcements against the Phillies as David Dahl and Ryan McMahon are both expected to come off the injured list in the near future, possibly even Thursday. The returns of Dahl and McMahon will give the Rockies a major boost offensively as they have recently deployed lineups littered with minor league caliber hitters.

The Rockies starting pitching has been cruising over the course of their three-game winning streak. German Marquez, Antonio Senzatela and Jon Gray each were sharp in their outings and helped push the club to victory.

Following a rollercoaster start to the 2019 season, the Rockies are now faced with a golden opportunity to right the ship and get back on track moving forward. It will be tough with the NL East-leading Phillies coming to town, but with momentum on their side, the Rockies are in prime position to reverse their fortunes this year.
