Shelby Harris was not only the best defender on the Broncos on Sunday, he was the best interior defensive lineman in the NFL.

That, per Pro Football Focus.

Harris was a man on fire during the Broncos’ narrow loss to the reigning Super Bowl champion Chiefs, batting down two passes at the line of scrimmage and tackling the opponent’s two best offensive playmakers in Tyreek Hill and Patrick Mahomes.

Harris’ two bat-downs were well-timed, saving the Broncos from allowing the Chiefs to continue to march down field. Each of them forced Kansas City to kick field goals instead of go for touchdowns.

Later, when Mahomes couldn’t find anyone open down field, he took off and looked to run for a first down. But, there was Harris right at the line of scrimmage to limit Mahomes to a mere yard on the scamper.

And maybe his play of the night came on a touchdown-saving tackle, running 30-plus yards to chase down Hill who had gotten loose on the sideline. The wild wideout ran past almost every other Denver defender, but Harris never gave up on the play and saved a touchdown.
