The Colorado Rapids’ club-record unbeaten streak was extended to 13 games thanks to Axel Sjöberg’s last-second equalizer in Vancouver. Cristian Techera gave the home side a 2-1 lead in the 87th minute.

Vancouver grabbed their first lead of the game in the 10th minute. Kendall Watson sent a header past Tim Howard after Christian Bolaños found him at the back post with a perfectly-placed cross.

The Rapids responded well and quickly but headed into the locker room down a score despite putting six shots on frame.

Fourteen minutes after the interval, the Rapids would find their first of the night as Kevin Doyle put one past David Ousted off a sneaky through ball from Shkëlzen Gashi.

The Rapids kept pushing for another but with twenty minutes remaining, Eric Miller was sent off for a dangerous foul on Pedro Morales. A quarter of an hour later, Watts was called for a foul on Techera inside the box. The 5-foot-2 striker, who had come on for Morales seven minutes earlier, made no mistake from the spot, putting the Whitecaps ahead once more.

Just when it seemed like the Rapids would suffer their first defeat since April 9, Sjöberg would tally his second of the season with a well-placed header back across the face of goal off a cross from Doyle.

With the draw, Pablo Mastroeni’s men remain in second place of the Western Conference and the Supporters’ Shield standings with a record of 9-2-7 (34 points). Vancouver Whitecaps FC keep the sixth spot in the Western Conference with a 7-8-4 (24 points) record.
