The Denver Broncos hit day four at UC Health Training Center with a bit of excitement as players wore full pads on Tuesday for the first time in 2018.

Running backs immediately went to work on drills, featuring pushing through each other to simulate shredding tackles and a power drill into padding.

It was quite interesting to watch former Colorado Buffalo Phillip Lindsay during this drill. He was very energetic, coming out in full-speed, taking care of little details and stood out among the rest. The power of fellow rookie teammate Royce Freeman was also on display. Practice however felt a bit moot as another key player sustained an injury when Derek Wolfe went to the sideline favoring his neck.

Wolfe was evaluated on the sideline before heading to the locker room. Wolfe spent the next twenty minutes in the locker room before emerging with a smile, ready to go.

Another stand-out today was Lindsay. He’s a student of practice and works at full speed. The Broncos have experimented with several different options for Lindsay and the former Buff should see extensive work in preseason.

The quarterbacks once again were on display as Case Keenum lead the team on multiple 7-on-7 situations, delivering excellent accuracy and throws in the face of pressure. While unable to hit the quarterback, Keenum did deliver the ball quickly — getting the ball out of his hands before taking ‘sacks.’

Keenum’s backups however struggled. Quarterback Chad Kelly was a bit errand on multiple throws, including an interception on 7-on-7 drills, airmailing the receiver who was doubled covered. Safety Trey Marshall intercepted the pass.

As practice wrapped up, Broncos players had an overall excitement to finally put full pads on and get the opportunity to hit on the field.

Post-practice, Broncos rookie Bradley Chubb spoke with the media and dished on playing at full speed, in pads with his teammates and even in a comical moment, tipped a rumor for rookies as hazing

The Broncos will return to practice tomorrow where fans will get their chance to see more of the team. The Broncos encouraging all fans to ‘Go Purple’ in support of Alzheimer’s Awareness on Saturday‘s Broncos training camp practice at UCHealth Training Center.
