Trevor Siemian, along with several of his teammates, was feeling a bit under the weather on Wednesday, but that didn’t stop him from being the same genuine, effusive Trevor that fans have come to know during his time with the Denver Broncos.

Siemian has endured a roller-coaster season that saw him win the starting job (for a second year in a row), run out to a 3-1 start before losing three straight games and get benched for Brock Osweiler. He was inactive in Week 11, then came in and nearly led a fourth-quarter comeback against the Raiders in Oakland. He’ll get the nod from head coach Vance Joseph again this week in Miami as the Broncos try to snap a seven-game losing streak — the team’s longest since 1967.

Despite all that, Siemian isn’t focusing any of the attention on himself or his own rocky ride this season. Battling illness, Siemian spoke with the media on Wednesday as the team got back to work preparing for the Dolphins and, as he always does, put the focus on his teammates and others around him.

When asked if this season has been frustrating for him, Siemian said, “It’s been frustrating for all of us. Losing a bunch of games, it stinks — kind of the way we’ve lost some of them, too. Not just me, it’s frustrating for all of us.”

With the quarterback situation in turmoil in Denver, Siemian’s future — along with that of Brock Osweiler and Paxton Lynch — remains up in the air. Yet, when asked if he has something to prove through the duration of the season, Siemian again made it about the team and not himself.

“Just win. We just want to win,” Siemian stated. “We’re starving for a win. We’ve all got something to prove.”

One thing Siemian doesn’t have to prove is his humility. That was apparent when he spoke about Children’s Hospital of Colorado, the organization he’s supporting to raise awareness about pediatric cancer this weekend with the “My Cause, My Cleats” initiative.

“I work with Children’s Hospital Colorado. My buddy Christian deigned these. Leukemia is what Christian went through, but a lot of folks over there have been really good to me. I have a good thing going with those guys … It helps keep things in perspective for you. It’s just such a cool perspective those kids have. You go in there and they’re the first to crack a joke or they’re smiling. You almost feel selfish going over there because I feel so good leaving after hanging out with those guys.”
