Vance Joseph stepped to the podium for the first time in two months after a Denver Broncos win, basking in the glow of a 23-0 shutout of the New York Jets at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Sunday.

For Joseph, it’s a great feeling to finally get the monkey off of his back, but it’s immediately back to work as the Broncos face the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday night. Joseph says to those who want the Broncos to ‘lose out’ for draft position, it’s not happening.

“I disagree,” Joseph said. “To win these last three games is huge for our team moving forward. The players have worked hard to win football games. We can do both; we can evaluate players and still win football games and still get ready for the future without forfeiting games. — that’s nonsense in my opinion, so we’re not going to do that.”

Joseph also discussed watching film on the Indianapolis Colts from Sunday to prepare, however, due to the blizzard that engulfed Buffalo, where the Colts were playing on Sunday, the Broncos simply couldn’t see anything.

“We tried to watch it, but you can’t. You can’t see it,” Joseph said. “It wasn’t worth watching; I watched about fifteen plays and I couldn’t see anything.”

But while the scouting on the Colts couldn’t be in-depth as Joseph would like, Joseph does want to see self-improvement from the Broncos.

“I want to see improvement… I want more clean football, less penalties, less turnovers, more takeaways… and obviously, wins.”
