The Colorado Buffaloes have won their division. Now it’s time for the Denver Broncos to go out and do the same.
At 7-3, the Broncos will host the 7-3 Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football in a game that could go a long way towards deciding the AFC West champions.
“This is a rivalry game flexed to Sunday Night Football,” Von Miller said, via Pro Football Talk. “It’s the biggest game of the year, and I want to go out there and take advantage of it.”
As in most cases, Denver will ask a lot of Miller. He’s one of the best players in football and the most-important cog on their defense. When he’s running at full capacity, so are the Broncos.
When he takes on Alex Smith and the Chiefs in prime time, he knows he’ll have to make plays, one way or another.
“[I]t’s not on film,” Miller said. “When you watch the film, the opportunities that are there, we take advantage of the opportunities. I don’t know what it is. I’ve just got to do it. It’s not on film. I’ve just got to go out there and do it. It’s not something that you can just look at the film and say, ‘On this play I could’ve [done] that.’ You’ve just got to go out there and create it. You’ve just got to go out there and make it happen.”
For the first time in half a decade, the AFC West isn’t being gifted to the Denver Broncos. In fact, it’s likely the best division in all of football, with three teams entering Sunday with seven or more wins.
As we enter the homestretch, with six games left on each team’s schedule, there will be little room for error. Whoever takes care of these in-division matchups will likely walk into the playoffs with the division crown and a first-round bye.
