Monday is about Peyton Manning. Tuesday marks the beginning of the Brock Osweiler era.
For four years, Osweiler has stood patiently behind Manning, waiting for his moment. When it finally came last season, the Osweiler offense was both exciting and inconsistent; he took down the Patriots, collapsed against the Steelers and was let down by his teammates against the Chargers.
In the end, though, it was still Manning’s team, and he was the one holding the Lombardi Trophy when the Broncos defeated the Panthers in Super Bowl 50.
Still, Osweiler’s stretch as a starter garnered attention and admiration from more than just the Denver Broncos. According to reports this morning, while John Elway has apparently offered Osweiler a three-year deal worth more than $45 million, teams like the Houston Texans are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to snatch No. 17 away from the Denver Broncos.
But that’s a conversation for another day.
Once again, today is about Manning, and Osweiler understands that as much as anybody.
