Colorado’s Mikaela Shiffrin delivered on her promise from the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia that she would not finish off the podium in the giant slalom at the 2018 Games. With a combined time of 2:20.02 on the GS course at Yongpyong Alpine Centre, Shiffrin took home her second career gold medal — hopefully the first of several at this year’s Games.

Our partners at USA TODAY Sports had photographers Erich Schlegel, Michael Madrid and Geoff Burke in South Korea capturing Shiffrin’s gold-medal performance, as well as her reaction immediately afterward and at the medal ceremony.
