15 seasons and 395 field goals later, Jason Elam is being inducted into the Denver Broncos Ring of Fame.

On Wednesday, Elam joined Eric Goodman and Les Shapiro on Afternoon Drive to discuss his recent induction into the Ring of Fame.

“I don’t want to sound cheesy or anything, but I just feel like such an incredibly blessed guy,” said Elam. “I wouldn’t trade this for anything. I played for the best organization in pro football, in front of the best fans, and I got to do it for a long time, so i’m just as happy as I can be.”

Elam played for the Broncos from 1993-2007, and he racked up a solid 80.6% field goal percentage over that time.

“I never expected a 17-year career, with 15 in Denver. I was just hoping to get three, four, maybe five years in, maybe bounce around a bit, but I never anticipated any of that happening,” Elam said.

AFTERNOON DRIVE LIVE STREAMWhen asked what he is looking forward to the most, Elam said, “One of the things I’m most excited about is I get to go in with Simon Fletcher and John Lynch, two of my favorite teammates. Awesome guys, great players, but even better people off the field. I’m going to have a front row seat to watch them get inducted, and that’s gonna be a highlight for me.”

The Denver Broncos Ring of Fame was founded in 1984 by team owner Pat Bowlen in order to honor former Broncos that have had a significant impact on the franchise, like Elam.

Now that Jason Elam has made it into the Ring of Fame, the next step is the Hall of Fame.

There are only a handful of kickers in the Hall of Fame currently, but you can absolutely make the case that he’s deserving of being the next.
