We’ve already got word that Brock Osweiler will be starting his fifth straight game this weekend against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but is that because the Broncos still believe he’s the guy or because Peyton Manning simply isn’t healthy enough to get back out onto the field?
Based off Mike Klis’ report from earlier this morning, it seems as if it’s the former.
“Even if Manning does start practicing this week on a limited basis, he is not expected to be ready to play next Sunday at Pittsburgh against the Steelers,” Klis reports.
But according to Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole, it’s more of the latter.
Given that Cole reported earlier this month that it was Osweiler’s job to lose, the only question would be whether he did enough to lose the job yesterday afternoon. Cole doesn’t seem to think so.
And there’s no doubt that Osweiler isn’t the biggest problem on this anemic Denver Broncos offense; if Demaryius Thomas and Vernon Davis could just catch a ball, we might be talking about Sunday’s game in a much different light. But he is the quarterback, and that means he has to take some of the blame.
Osweiler may not be the problem, but so far, he hasn’t proven to be the solution, either.
